Board of Trustees 

AJSTI’s newest Board of Trustees was formed on Saturday November 8th 2025 and is made up of four members. Each will serve for a period of 12 months and will retire their positions at the next AGM, though they are free to stand for re-election if they wish.

Helen Hughes is the Honorary Chair of the new Board. Helen holds a Higher Diploma in Relationship and Parent Mentoring from UCC.

She succesfully completed an Advanced Certificate course in Jungian Sand Therapy in 2023.

Helen is an accredited member of AJSTI and a pre-validated member of the Irish Association of Relationship Mentors (IARM).  She is based in Tullamore and has been a member of AJSTI since 2021.

 

 

Sandra McAdam is AJSTI's new Honorary Secretary. She

is a Dublin based AJSTI and IACP accredited integrative psychotherapist. She has worked with victims of domestic abuse for 30 years. Sandra is also part of a virtual team providing video and phone therapy sessions to adults and adolescents who are experiencing suicidal ideation and engaging in self harming behaviour.

More recently Sandra has begun working with children at risk in Ireland, providing therapy for child victims of sexual abuse and their families. Sandra is a trauma informed therapist and has a passion for Sand Therapy which she utilises in her therapy whenever she can.

​Tony Monahan is the new Honorary Treasurer of AJSTI. Tony holds a HDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an MA in Psychotherapy. He is a qualified Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor and is accredited with AJSTI, the IACP and IAHIP.
He is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Tony has over 30 years’ experience of working in the community and maintains a well-established private practice in Dublin. He previously served as the Student Counsellor with both Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin.

Phil O'Kelly has served as Director and Company Secretary of AJSTI from the foundation of the organisation and this is his second time to serve on the board.

A journalist by profession, Phil is a retired publisher and editor. He has written for many national and international publications and was a columnist with one national newspaper for 23 years.
